Its been almost two years since the commissioning of the Mthambanji mini-grid, we look back at some of the positive social and economic impacts SustainSolar’s product, the SUSTAIN COMPACT™ has brought to the community. Despite the initial Covid-19 related delays, the commissioning and final testing of the SUSTAIN COMPACT™ was successfully done under the Rural EASE (Energy Access through Social Enterprise and Decentralization) The project was funded by the Scottish Government in collaboration with the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow and delivered in partnership with United Purpose – an international development and emergency relief organization headquartered in the UK.
The 12kWp containerised system, configured with SMA inverters and 20kWh of Tesvolt batteries, has consistently supplied 60 customers with access to stable and reliable clean energy for domestic and commercial use.
